A Bit About Me
I have worked with various populations and have a diverse background including people with trauma, depression, anxiety, substance use, and other life stressors. I enjoy an open and collaborative approach to the therapeutic relationship where the direction and pace is comfortably established for both my clients and myself. I believe in being person-centered in counseling and utilize many practices from motivational interviewing like reflections and affirmations as we work to effect change and positive outcomes. My goal is that there is some gained awareness in every session - new insight to possible change, improved outlook, or future possibilities that may have been blocked or hidden from our view when we are simply not living with the best version of ourselves. I want to help build hope and optimism so that there is improvement in self-esteem and self-efficacy.
Some of My Past Work Experience

October 2016 - October 2018
November 2014 - November 2015
April 2016 - September 2016
Substance Treatment/Medication Assisted Therapy - For the last four years, I have been the Clinical Director at two Opioid Treatment Programs, overseeing a team of 13 counselors. As a Counseling Team, we work with individuals struggling with opioid addiction, helping them combat the disease of addiction while receiving maintenance medications that give stability in every day life. Patients are able to regain control of their lives and repair the damage caused by unhealthy opiate use.
For a combined total of three years, I was privileged to treat active Marines and Sailors stationed at Marine Corps Installation, Camp Lejeune. Many of these military personnel suffered from co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns stemming from adjustment into military life and the many perils experienced through trainings, active combat, and other military operations.
While working with a local Child Advocacy Center, I was trained to be a Forensic Interviewer to assist with children and adolescents that were victims of physical, verbal/emotional, and sexual abuse. During this time, I also became skilled in trauma-informed counseling, utilizing the foundations of Trauma-Focused CBT.
